Help Out NY is a free and confidential support service for New York residents concerned about someone they know. When you reach out, you’ll be connected to New York-based mental health professionals that have been supporting New Yorkers for over 20 years.

You are not alone.

Get in touch

Help Out NY staff are available between the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday – Friday (with the exception of federal holidays). We are not always able to respond immediately, but we will get back to you as quickly as we can within these hours.

If you’re reaching out to us outside of these hours, we will get back to you within 24 – 48 hours of our working hours resuming.

If this is an emergency and you need immediate support, please dial 911. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, please dial 988 for the national Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

When you contact Help Out NY, you will be connected with an experienced mental health professional who will provide nonjudgmental support to address your needs.
When you reach out, you will speak to one of our licensed mental health professionals. Our team has over 20 years of experience in providing support to New Yorkers exhibiting potentially violent behavior. If you're concerned about someone you know, we can help out.

Yes, what you share with Help Out NY staff is confidential. We maintain strict confidentiality standards. We cannot disclose information about you or what you tell us.

However, if we suspect child abuse, or maltreatment or imminent danger to either yourself or others, we are legally obliged to take action to ensure public safety.

If you are worried about someone, but do not feel that they pose an imminent risk of violence, you can reach out to us via this website. If someone you know is in imminent danger of harming themselves or others, please call 911.

No, Help Out NY's services are free for New York-based individuals.

We are not connected with law enforcement and will only engage with law enforcement if we become aware of an imminent threat to public safety.

In addition to English, our staff can provide services in Spanish.
